Ourika Guided Tour – Day Trip

Description

If you’ve explored the Marrakech medina and haggled for bargains in the sprawling souk, heard storytellers weave their magic in the Djemaa el Fna square, and dined al fresco on Moroccan cuisine, it’s time to travel further afield to discover more of the magic of Morocco. Marrakech sits in the foothills of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, North Africa’s chain of mountains linking Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. Here, the High Atlas range is cut by the Draa River to the south and Imlil valley, Ourika valley, Zat valley .. to the north. There are lots of excursions to do from Marrakech to the The Berber Valleys of the High Atlas Mountains which are only about a one hour drive from the city. Here are some days tours you can do from Marrakech

Itineraries

Around 9 o’clock, we depart from Marrakech to explore the Atlas Mountains. After a scenic drive, we visit the vibrant weekly market in Tnine Ourika (if it’s Monday), followed by a 2-hour walk through Berber villages to Timalizine. Then, we continue to Setti Fadma for lunch and a 45-minute walk to waterfalls before returning to Marrakech around 5 p.m., with an optional visit to a traditional Berber home.

Pick up around 9O’clock from your accommodation in Marrakech to the direction of the Atlas Mountains, after some 45minutes through olive tree groves we should get to the gate of the Ourika valley at the village of Tnine Ourika, where a Great Weekly market is set every monday where all the peoples living around come to buy their needs for the whole ( great activity). Once visit the market ( if monday) we then start the 2 hours walk through lot of berber villages and through many cultivated terraces till the village of Timalizine from where we cross the bridge and get back to the main road and get back on the car to carry on the journey up the Ourika valley till the stunning village of setti fadma which marks the end of the Tarmac road.

Once up here we get off and have lunch in a Local restaurant before we set off for another 45minutes walk to visit some of the waterfalls. After the visit of the waterfalls, we then get back to the car and make our journey back to Marrakech to get here around 17h with a possibilité of visiting a traditionel berber home on the way back.

Note : some of the peoples may escape the walk and just enjoy very little walks long the road to take the pictures
