Challenge yourself to climb the highest peak in North Africa in 2 or 3 days. The tour starts and finishes in the vibrant city of Marrakech, and includes transport to and from Imlil . We will trek with a local English speaking guide , a local cook and mules to carry our luggage. It’s a challenging walk rather than a climb, and anybody in good physical condition can reach the top.
Arrive from Marrakech the city of Imlil, an excursion that takes up to 4 hours. Settle into your accommodation in Imlil and rest up for the big trek in the morning.
Leaving the city behind, enjoy a scenic ride south towards the craggy peaks and plunging valleys of the Toubkal Massif. Admire the valleys of the Oued Rhirhaia that stretch out into the distance as you disembark your vehicle and join your mountain guide for a trek along Mizane Valley toward the village of Aremd and then onto the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch and the cascading waterfall that rests beside it. Continue the trek, snaking and zigzagging your way up to the snowline and the Toukbal Refuge, where you will stop for the night. (4-5 hours of walking)
Begin the day early as you continue your trek to the summit of Jebel Toukbal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Cross river streams and head across the fields of the mountains, navigating the endless carpet of boulders and rocks. Cresting the ridge line, find yourself on the plateau and stop to admire the breathtaking vistas of the surrounding landscape, including unrestricted views from the Marrakech Plain to the High Atlas in the north and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara.
Once you have reached the summit, gingerly begin your journey back down the mountain and towards Imlil. Then transfer back to Marrakech (Included).
