We leave Marrakech early to start our Morocco tour and drive through Moulay Brahim to the foothills of the western High Atlas mountains. Here we start at Imi Oughlad (1450m). The mighty peaks of Jebel Toubkal, at 4167m the highest peak in north africa, Aglzim 3650m and Aksoual 38847m surround us. This is where we meet our muleteer and set off for a two hour hike to Tizi n Tachete. You’ll be on a track winding through pine and juniper trees.

We will have a chance to see the local agriculture. At Tizi n Tachete you can look down on the Imlil and Ait Oussaden valleys. Then we walk on a short way before stopping for lunch. After the picnic it is about another 2 and half hours south-west to the traditional red clay terraced village of Tiziane (1750 m)where we spend the night.

Three hours hiking this morning up through groves of walnut trees, fields of corn and barley. We will meet a lot of sheep and goatherders on the way as well as women and children carrying fodder and fire wood. We cross Tizi n’Tagdalte and descend till we come to a small spring set amongst the juniper trees. Where we will stop for our lunch.

Then it is another three hours along zig zagging tracks till we reach a small river at the beginning of the valley of Assif n’Ait Oussaden where we enter the village of Tizi Oussem (1850m). Our final push is up to the summer village of Tamsoult for the night.
